Find The Rabbit
Find the Rabbit is a “flat Rubik’s Cube” hexagonal paper puzzle-zine. The goal of the puzzle is to flip the triangle pages until an image of a rabbit appears. The final result will lay flat.
Each puzzle is hand-cut and assembled from 10 trapezoid shapes and one rhombus. The pages are stapled in 18 locations according to a unique key.
I first invented and designed the puzzle in 2011 in Berlin, Germany. It launched at the Zine Fest Berlin that I co-founded the same year. My engineering challenge was to fit as many trapezoid-shaped pages as possible onto 1 sheet of A4 paper.
The 1st edition layout was entirely hand-drawn. In 2023, I converted the layout into a vector and made a small print run of a 2nd edition. The pages were screenprinted silver ink on black heavyweight paper and sewn together. In 2024 the the 3rd edition was published using tear-resistant paper.
I am very proud of having invented this puzzle. After a decade of being out of print it’s now available ongoing. You can order a puzzle from my etsy page. My favorite kind of things to make are games, toys or experiences which are accessible in which one can interact with my art to solve a problem. I would love to hear from you if you find the rabbit!
